Port Macquarie racing takes place on Tuesday, March 11 with a 9-race program set down for Port Macquarie racetrack.

Race 4: No.4 Tsunoda
Race 5: No.4 Secret Keeper
Race 6: No.5 Hell Of A Lad

Race 4: No.4 Tsunoda

The locally-trained Tsunoda is three starts back from a six-month break and now looks ready to produce his best in this event.

Last start, the Overshare gelding was slowly away and settled well back and wide but made up good ground in the run home and arrived in time to grab third prize in a BM58 over 1400m at Taree.

Aaron Bullock was aboard that day and sticks with the four-year-old for this assignment.

He jumps from gate seven today and maps to settle mid-field with cover as he meets similar company over the longer 1509m trip.

Both career wins to date have come on wet tracks so conditions look ideal for him.

Fourth-up and at his peak here, a clear run to the line should see him there at the finish.

Race 5: No.4 Secret Keeper

The Coffs Harbour-based galloper is second-up today and looking for back-to-back success for his new stable.

Last start, the Xtravagant gelding had his first start for the Aiden St Vincent stable and enjoyed instant success when he broke through for his maiden win, here over 1509m with Stephen Cummins aboard.

That was his first race start in almost 18 months and he made it look easy on the day.

He takes on Class 1 company today and steps-up to 1812m as well with Cummins pulling the strings again.

From barrier eight, he maps to settle near mid-field (or better) with cover and fitter for that first-up win, should have plenty in reserve to cover the extra distance.

A trouble-free run today puts him in the mix for another victory in this contest.

Race 6: No.5 Hell Of A Lad

The Kris Lees-trained galloper makes the three-hour trip north from Newcastle today and sporting a gear change, looks the one to beat in this event.

Last start, the Hellbent gelding failed for the second time on a dry track but wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM58 over 1200m at Coffs Harbour.

Settling mid-field with Michael Rodd aboard, he peeled wide on the turn and made up some ground in the run home, beaten 1.5 lengths on the line.

He draws gate nine today but with little early speed inside him, he maps to cross and settle in the first half-dozen with Andre Gibbons aboard for the first time.

All four podium finishes (including his maiden win) have come on wet tracks so the forecast Soft 7 for today’s meeting looks ideal for the three-year-old.

If he can avoid trouble and find clean air in the run home, he looks the testing material in this contest.
