Race 1 No.2- Sun Gift
Sun Gift was doing her best work late over the 1800m at Caulfield when second up on April 16 and the extra 200m brings her right into this. The Danny O’Brien mare has a good record and really came into her own at this stage of her last preparation when claiming her Maiden at Seymour before chalking up a couple of other wins at Yarra Glen and Geelong. She was back at Caulfield before producing the fastest 200m to place 7th behind Dillinger, beaten less than three lengths. The daughter of Savabeel will have to settle back again but there should be sufficient speed in this to set things up nicely. Blake Shinn rides and strikes at 26% for the stable.
Race 4 No.7- Avonbeg
Avonbeg can go one spot better than a debut effort that saw her finish runner-up over the 1600m on April 17. The five-year-old was finally lining up for the first time and worked home well with the last 200m in what was a sound debut. She should benefit from that experience and draws ideally in barrier 3.
Race 7 No.1- No Fooling
No Fooling can make it two wins from as many starts when he steps out in Race 7. The Ciaron Maher galloper was impressive at Cranbourne on debut, settling worse than midfield before producing some slcik final splits to arrive in time from Iced Chocolate, who has since come out and won. Look for the son of Alabama Express to settle off the speed and the race sets up nicely with a few of these to inject a bit of tempo. Beau Mertens rides and provides a 47% profit on turnover when combining with the stable.
Race 9 No.4- Bonnie Amore
Bonnie Amore can be an improver in Race 9. The Greg Eurell mare was disappointing when resuming as favourite at Cranbourne last month but wasn't really suited in the run, settling back in the small field in a race that developed into a dash home. They went very slow early on and she was flat footed. The four-year-old is capable of much better and will strip fitter at her second run after nearly a year off. She had form around the likes of Miss Aria, Celestial Storm and Oak Hill at her last preparation and can turn things around here.
