Pakenham racing takes place on Thursday, February 6, with an eight-race program set down for Pakenham racetrack.
- Pakenham Race 2 No.3- Proved
- Pakenham Race 3 No.2- Al Prancer
- Pakenham Race 7 No. 2- Zoupurring
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Pakenham racetrack.
Pakenham Race 2 No.3- Proved
Proved should be hard to beat in Race 2 at Pakenham. The unbeaten mare has been impressive in her two career starts, winning easily at Moe on debut over the 1200m before edging out Jenni The Jet at Moonee Valley back in early December, with those two gapping the rest. The runner-up out of that has since taken out a BenchMark 64 at Pakenham, while the 3rd horse has also claimed a BM64. The Enver Jusufovic four-year-old comes in with a slight freshen up but does look to be going places, while she can lead or box seat from the inside barrier.
Pakenham Race 3 No.2- Al Prancer
There has been plenty of money for Al Prancer in Race 3 since markets opened and we are following the money trail for the Cranbourne based galloper. He has had just the one start with that coming at Yarra Valley over the 1200m, sticking on well for 3rd in a leader dominated race behind Parch, beaten half a length. The winner out of that has since performed well at Seymour and Moonee Valley. The Ken & Kasey Keys-trained galloper went five lengths slower than standard benchmark, not setting any records. But this does look to be a weak maiden and they are better figures than what any horse in this race has produced. Any improvement from his debut should see him be hard to beat.
Pakenham Race 7 No. 2- Zoupurring
Zoupurring should find this easier than recent runs. The Team Corstens galloper has been racing in BenchMark 70 company at his two runs this time in and was close when resuming with a runner-up at Cranbourne over the 1200m before sticking to that trip and placing 10th at Flemington behind Wolfe. This is easier and he was an improver on benchmark figures when third up at his last preparation, while he has performed well over the 1400m in his three starts at that trip, placing twice.
