Race 4: No.8 Firm Agreement
The Neasham & Archibald-trained Firm Agreement made an impression on debut and only has to overcome the wide draw today to be a force in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Yes Yes Yes gelding had his first race-start (after several trials) and looked home but was grabbed late by a swooper when finishing second in a 1350m Maiden Hcp on this track.
Chad Schofield rode him a treat and gave him every chance where he showed plenty of potential when beaten a neck on the line.
He has drawn wide here in gate 12 and has Tom Sherry as the new pilot where he steps up to the 1500m today.
He maps to settle better than mid-field with a lot of slow-starters drawn inside him here.
Fitter for that debut run, he looks right in this with a clear run home.
Race 5: No.8 Pleasure Artist
The Team Freedman-trained Pleasure Artist has start number three today and looks every chance of going back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Trapeze Artist filly came off a close-up fourth on debut when she showed plenty of improvement in winning a 1400m Maiden at Kembla Grange with Andrew Adkins in the saddle.
She comes into gate ten after early scratchings and maps to settle back in the field, looking for the last crack at them.
Adkins sticks with her for the step-up to Class 1 company today.
Fitter for two runs to date, she showed enough last start to suggest she is a leading contender for the major prize in this contest.
Race 7: No.10 Titanium Miss
Tracey Bartley saddles-up Titanium Miss here who is third-up and should be ready to fire in this event.
Last start, the All Too Hard filly was second-up and not disgraced when finishing a close-up fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Kembla Grange.
Trying to lead all the way, she had difficulty handling the windy conditions that day (where the meeting was postponed later on), with Tommy Berry delivering a top-shelf ride, but was unable to secure a podium finish, beaten just a length on the line.
Today, the three-year-old draws well in gate four and maps to settle just behind the speed as Jason Collett returns for his second ride on the filly.
Fitter for two runs back, she should give us a bold sight in this contest.
Race 8: No.13 Yoshinobu
Another from the Neasham & Archibald camp is Yoshinobu who is second-up today and looks every chance of back-to-back victories in this event.
Last start, the Written Tycoon colt returned to the track after a six-month absence where on fresh legs, he broke through for his first win, taking out a 1200m Maiden at Wyong.
With Kerrin McEvoy aboard, the three-year-old settled outside the leader, then after taking over inside the final 200m, fought on gamely to hang on and win, running 1:09 for the 1200m trip.
Fitter for that first-up effort, the colt is joined today by Tom Sherry who has a 17% strike rate with the stable and although stepping up in grade here, should still prove the one to beat in this contest.
