Race 2: No.6 Sanctuary Storm
The Neasham & Archibald-trained galloper has his second race start today and looks well placed to remain unbeaten in this event.
Last start, the Pierro gelding made his debut and was impressive when winning the 1300m Maiden Hcp at Bathurst.
He settled mid-field, three-wide without cover and despite the wide run and carrying top weight (59kgs), he still proved too strong in the run home, winning by a length on the line.
Taking on Class 1 company today, he has Zac Lloyd as the new pilot and drops 4kgs for the contest.
He maps to settle near the speed from gate three in the small field and a trouble-free run should see him hard to hold out today.
Race 6: No.14 Coella
The Muswellbrook-based Coella is high-flying this time in and looks set to give this event a real shake at odds today.
Last start, the Outreach mare made it back-to-back victories when she clobbered a Class 1 field over 1450m on her home track.
Despite travelling wide most of the way, she took control inside the final 150m and raced away to win by two lengths on the line.
This BM64 is a little harder but she has Jake Pracey-Holmes back for the ride who boasts a strong record with her, (steering the mare to victory two starts back at Quirindi), and from gate six today, maps to settle mid-field with cover.
Consistency is her game this preparation, evidenced with top-two finishes in all four starts this preparation, and a clear run to the line today should see her maintain that record in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 Lounerse
Locally-trained by David Atkins, Lounerse is third-up today and with a major gear change, can bounce back and take this event out.
Last start, the well-bred Akeed Mofeed mare was all at sea when she finished unplaced in a BM74 over 1100m at Scone.
Drawn the outside gate (14) that day, she settled three-wide in the back half of the field and despite finishing strongly, had no luck when striking traffic all the way to the line and did well to to be within 2.5 lengths on the winner in the end.
She drops back to a BM64 contest today and from gate five, maps to settle near mid-field with cover as Ben Osmond sticks with her for this assignment as the stable fit the tongue tie for the first time.
Already a winner at the track and distance, a trouble-free run here can see her back in the fray and a real chance of victory.
Race 8: No.4 Subarctic
Matt Smith saddles-up Subarctic here who is in career-best form and third-up today looks a genuine player in this event.
Last start, the well-bred So You Think gelding came off an impressive first-up win at Echuca when he beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1600m at Bendigo.
He settled mid-field that day with Jordan Childs aboard and while no match for the winner, never stopped chasing and did well to collect the silver medal for the race.
Drawn nicely in gate four today, he maps to settled just behind the speed with Ash Morgan back in the saddle.
He has two minor placings from his five starts at the track and in top-shelf form, gets his chance to ring up his first win here with a clear run to the line.
