Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, August 17, with a 9-race program set down for the Morphettville track.
  • Race 4: No.8  Golden Hips
  • Race 7: No.3  Sir Randolph
  • Race 8: No.6  Lingani
  • Race 9: No.10  Mazovia

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Morphettville racecourse.

Race 4: No.8  Golden Hips

The Victorian galloper, Golden Hips makes his Morphettville debut here and in career-best form, looks a serious contender for the main prize in this event.

Last start, the Gold Standard gelding brought up his third win in four starts when he clobbered a BM64 field over 2247m on a Heavy 10 at Sale.

He drew the outside gate (9) that day and settled back in the field before finding his way to the front inside the final 100m and going on with it, crossing the line two lengths clear in the end.

He steps-up to BM76 company here but drops 4kgs in the process as Jason Holder is given the job as pilot for this assignment.

He draws out in gate ten but will settle back again and save his best for last.

Now four starts into this campaign, he will be at his peak for this and at the weights, looks in the mix for victory.

Race 7: No.3  Sir Randolph

The Andrew Clarken-trained Sir Randolph is third-up here and looks ready to pounce in this event.

Last start, the Churchill gelding showed a ton of improvement from his first-up effort when he beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1300m at Bordertown.

Sent out an $18 outsider, he settled near the speed and ran home strongly to just miss out, beaten a head on the line with Kayla Crowther on board.

Drawn nicely in gate five here, he maps to be just off the pace with Crowther steering the ship again for this assignment.

Clarken looks to have him just about right at his third start for the new stable and unbeaten in two previous third-up appearances, he looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.

Race 8: No.6  Lingani

The locally-trained Lingani is in outstanding form this time in, boasting five-straight top-two finishes and looks well-placed here to keep that record intact.

Last start, the America mare proved too good for them when she took out the Listed Lightning Stakes, here over 1050m with Dom Tourneur in the saddle.

Unwanted in the market ($21), she settled back in the field and three-wide but put in a strong finishing burst to arrive in time and snatch the trophy right on the line.

She drops back to BM78 company here with Tourneur sticking with her for this assignment.

She does no early work from gate five and maps to be near mid-field with cover this time.

Already a track and distance winner, she is more than capable of giving this contest a real shake.

Race 9: No.10  Mazovia

The Clarken & O’Shea training group saddle-up Mazovia here who is in top shelf form of late and looks a genuine chance of bringing up the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the Impending mare came off a big maiden win when she franked that victory by taking out a BM62 Hcp over 1000m at Murray Bridge.

With Jacob Opperman backing-up from that winning maiden ride, the mare jumped from gate 12 (of 13) and settled back in the field, three-wide to the turn.

A brilliant ride from Opperman saw the mare finish strongly with a well timed run where she arrived right on the post to grab the winner’s cheque.

She draws gate seven here and maps to settle near mid-field with cover this time.

Opperman sticks with her and if she can score clean air at the right time here, she can make a real contest out of it and beat them home again.
