Race 1 No.9- Castlefield Flyer
Castlefield Flyer can go one spot better than a debut effort that saw her finish runner-up at the track and trip on ANZAC Day. The Alex Rae filly settled just forward of midfield in that race but couldnt quite reel in Iced Chocolate, who has since come out and run well at Cranbourne. Castlefield Flyer went 4.6 lenghts slower than standard on debut, which is the best last start figure of any runner and three lenghts better than the class average for this race. She should have improvement to come and is the one to beat.
Race 7 No.4- Makdane
Makdane can bounce back after a last start 7th at Pakenham in a BenchMark 64. The Michael Kent-trained galloper drops in grade for this assignment and was posted wide no cover last time before the tough run told in the end. He was solid when 3rd at Cranbourne prior to that in a good form race. He should be right at his peak after three runs this time in and was a winner at this stage of his last preparation. The blinkers go on the son of Impending and he draws perfectly in barrier 4.
Race 9 No.8- Master Of Chant
Master Of Chant shapes as an each-way player in the final race of the day. The five-year-old was a strong winner at Sale four starts ago and had excuses at his next start then was outclassed in a BenchMark 70 at Echuca. But he showed improvement at Sale last time when just missing out over the 1005m behind Zouper Fund, finishing a half a length 3rd behind that horse. He gets back up to the 1200m and will look to box seat from barrier 3. He should be in it for a long way.
