The Peter Snowden-trained Cassiel is second-up today and looks likely of going back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the Harry Angel gelding resumed off an 18-week break and had no trouble leading from barrier to box in a BM64 over 1100m at Canterbury.
Kerrin McEvoy was aboard for his second ride on the galloper and despite losing an off-hind plate, still managed to win by more than a length on the line.
McEvoy sticks with him today where he meets similar company and gets the gun-run from gate one.
He maps to settle near mid-field on the fence, and will strip fitter after that first-up win.
Placed here at his only run on the track, he looks a serious contender for the major prize in this contest.
Race 4: No.5 Strawberry Impact
The Blake Ryan-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last star, the Pierata gelding came off a solid win on this track when he came within a whisker of scoring another win when he beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1400m at Newcastle.
Chad Lever has been aboard for all four starts to date and after settling worse than mid-field, did well to finish strongly and claim second prize on the line that day.
He steps-up to the mile trip today and should be ready to tackle the extra distance.
From gate five, he maps to settle near mid-field with cover and should be at his peak for this challenge.
In great form, he looks a serious contender for the major prize in this contest.
Race 5: No.7 Can Expect Greater
The Jason Coyle-trained galloper has chalked-up two wins from his past three starts and ticks enough boxes here for back-to-back success today.
Last start, the Per Incanto mare clobbered a BM58 field at Nowra, winning the 1100m event by more than two lengths.
With Alysha Collett in the saddle, the mare carried 61kgs that day and after taking over in the final 150m, went on to record a soft win.
Ideally drawn in gate three here, she maps to settle near mid-field and has Tyler Schiller returning for his second ride on the four-year-old.
A trouble-free run today should see her in the mix for back-to-back success in this contest.
