Kembla Grange racing takes place on Wednesday, January 29, with a 7-race program set down for Kembla Grange racetrack.
- Race 5: No.3 Dalio
- Race 6: No.8 Shot Out
- Race 7: No.5 Zousain Bolt
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Kembla Grange racetrack.
Race 5: No.3 Dalio
The Steve Englebrecht-trained Dalio is in good touch of late and look well placed here to bring up his second career win in this event.
Last start, the American Pharoah gelding finished bridesmaid again when he beat all but the winner home in a BM64 over 2300m at Newcastle.
Deanne Panya took over from twin sister Beany that day and rode him a treat, settling mid-field on the fence before fanning wide on the turn where he finished strongly and arrived in time to claim the silver medal, beaten just half a length on the line.
He meets similar company here and has Deanne Panya backing-up for the ride in this event where he draws well in gate five and maps to settle near mid-field with cover.
Racing himself into form at his past two outings, the Soft 5 conditions are ideal for him here and a trouble-free run should see him there at the finish.
Race 6: No.8 Shot Out
The Team Lee-trained Shot Out has now had four starts for the stable and after running herself into form of late, looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Showtime mare rung-up career-win number two when she easily accounted for a BM58 over 1200m at Nowra.
On a Heavy 9 that day, Robbie Downey had her box-seating on settling before coming off heels on the turn and after taking control in the final 100m, ran away to score by more than a length on the line.
Ideally drawn in gate two today, she has Molly Bourke at the new pilot and maps to be box-seating again from the good gate.
At her peak after four runs back, a clear run to the line here can see her challenging for victory and she looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Zousain Bolt
The Neasham & Archibald camp saddles-up Zousain Bolt here who is third-up and drawn to give this event a real shake today.
Last start, the Zousain gelding was second-up when he improved enough to beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1500m at Newcastle.
From gate seven (of eight), Mollie Fitzgerald settled him outside the leader before taking over on straightening, however he was unable to hold off a challenge from one better on the day.
Tyler Schiller is the new pilot for this assignment where the three-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating again behind a couple of early speeders drawn out wide.
Fitter for two runs back now and already a winner when third-up, he looks the testing material in this contest.
