Ipswich Racing Tips for April 9 - Outsmarted is shooting for the hat-trick today
- Ipswich holds a huge 10-race program on April 9
- Writty to win Race 4, track & distance winner, 3rd-up, drawn gate 2.
- Cool Panels a strong each-way chance in Race 8, drawn the fence, Georgina Cartwright to ride.
- Outsmarted best of the day in Race 9, last start winner, well drawn today.

- Race 4: No.9 Writty
- Race 8: No.8 Cool Panels
- Race 9: No.7 Outsmarted
Race 4: No.9 Writty
The Chris Waller-trained Writty is third-up here and returning to provincial company, looks a winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Written Tycoon mare came off an impressive first-up maiden win on this track when she stepped up to BM64 grade in the city and did well to finish just behind the placegetters over 1110m at Doomben.
She drew the outside gate (10) forcing Andrew Mallyon to settle her back in the field against her usual racing pattern and in the run home, did well to finish fourth, beaten just 2.5 lengths over the line.
The four-year-old is a proven front-runner and after drawing gate two here, she maps to be where she prefers, settling on the speed with Kyle Wilson-Taylor in charge today.
Returning to country racing today and dropping back to a Class 1 challenge, the scene looks set for her to bounce back in this contest.
Race 8: No.8 Cool Panels
Lindsay Gough saddles-up Cool Panels here who is in good touch this time in and looks ideally placed in this event to give it a real shake.
Last start, the Adelaide gelding found the podium for the third time this preparation when he finished third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1640m at Doomben.
Sitting fourth as they turned, he fought on strongly to claim the minor prize over the line, beaten 1.5 lengths in the end.
Regular rider Georgina Cartwright was aboard that day and runs the show for this assignment.
The five-year-old gets the gun-run from gate one here and maps to be sitting pretty, just behind the speed.
He has placed twice in two previous attempts at the mile trip, but with his sire being a Cox Plate winner, he has proven stayer’s blood and should have no trouble running it out.
At his peak today, he looks a sound investment in this contest.
Race 9: No.7 Outsmarted
Flying high with four wins from just five career starts, the Jake Capewell-trained Outsmarted looks well placed here to ring-up the hat-trick today.
Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding made the big step-up from country racing and went back-to-back in the city when he took out a BM68 over 1300m at Eagle Farm.
With Michael Rodd in the saddle, he drew wide and settled back in the field before charging home and arrived in time to claim the winner’s cheque that day.
He faces Class 5 company here where he draws much better in gate four and maps to settle better than mid-field with cover where Michael Rodd remains aboard for this assignment.
Returning from city class racing here, he looks well placed and should prove hard to beat in this contest.
