Happy Valley racing takes place on Wednesday, April 9 with a 9-race program set down for Happy Valley racetrack.

Race 5: No.5 Casa Of Honor

Having his first race start on Hong Kong soil tonight, the Michael Chang-trained galloper comes off three blistering trial efforts and looks set to make a big entrance in this event.

Prior to arriving in Hong Kong, the Mikki Isle gelding ended his Australian career with back-to-back wins at Randwick and Tamworth, racing as Perennial for the Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich training partnership.

Since arriving here, he has enjoyed three barrier trials, winning the last two of those, one each at Happy Valley and Sha Tin.

On debut tonight, the four-year-old draws the outside gate (10) and will need some luck when crossing with Matthew Poon in the saddle.

He has been full of running at the trials and if he can reproduce those efforts here, he could be in with a winning chance tonight.

Race 7: No.5 Gallant Epoch

The Francis Lui-trained Gallant Epoch has run into some good form of late and looks set to make his Happy Valley debut a winning one tonight.

Last start, the Iffraaj gelding came off a big win in Class 4 company at Sha Tin when he beat all but one home against similar company at the same track.

Lyle Hewitson was aboard on both occasions and has the job again for this assignment.

From gate seven, he maps to settle near the speed and with a trouble-free run tonight, he can figure in this contest.

Race 9: No.8 Golden Rise

John Size saddles-up Golden Rise here who is in career-best form and ticks enough boxes that suggest he will take beating in this event.

Last start, the Written Tycoon gelding came off a Class 4 win on this track when he stepped-up to Class 3 company and was unlucky when finishing third in the 1200m event.

Settling mid-field with Andrea Atzeni in the saddle, he was blocked for a run on straightening and after finally gaining a split, hit the line strongly and arrived in time to claim the minor prize.

Drawing out in gate seven looks ideal for him tonight as he maps to mid-field again, but away from the fence where he can avoid being boxed-in.

Atzeni has the reins again and boasting five-straight podium finishes to date, he looks a genuine winning chance here with a trouble-free run in the contest.
