Race 1: No.1 Meet Me In Bondi
The Bjorn Baker-trained galloper is in great touch this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he can take this event out today.
Last start, the Snitzel gelding was third-up and against the odds still managed to take home third prize in a Class 1 over 1500m at Newcastle.
He drew the outside gate (12) where Keagan Latham pushed forward and settled him third, but three-wide without cover, then showed plenty of fight to stick on for the minor prize on a Heavy 8 that day.
Ash Morgan rode him to his Maiden win three starts back and returns to steer the ship again today.
He gets the gun-run from gate one here and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence.
Fourth-up and at his peak today, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 2: No.5 Emery
Sara Ryan saddles-up Emery here who is second-up and has shown enough to suggest she can take home the chocolates in this event.
Last start, the Almanzor filly resumed off a 19-week spell and impressed when beating all but one home in a Maiden Plate over 1100m on the Kensington track at Randwick.
Slowly away, she settled back in the field but finished strongly to grab second prize, beaten a neck on the line.
Ash Morgan was aboard that day and has the job again for this assignment.
In the small field, she maps to take a sit behind the early speed and with a drama-free run today she can go one better in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Gorbachev
The Michael Freedman-trained Gorbachev is second-up today and ticks all the boxes to suggest he is the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Russian Revolution gelding resumed from an 18-week break and did it in style by breaking through for his first career win, here in a 1000m Maiden with Keagan Latham in the saddle.
Parked one out, one back with the run of the race, Latham rode him a treat, pulling wide on the turn and finishing best to take home the winner’s cheque.
Drawn the fence today, he maps to be box-seating on settling with Latham steering the ship again.
Fitter off that first-up win and now a winner at the track as well, he gets all the favours here and will take beating in this contest.
