Race 3: No.4 Torabella
The Tony Gollan-trained Torabella is second-up here and boasts a resume that suggests she will be hard to beat in this event.
Last preparation, the Toronado mare had seven starts and took home no less than five winner’s cheques for her connections before being sent to the spelling paddock.
Last start, she resumed after 11 weeks off the scene and did it tough, finishing mid-field in a BM85 over 1200m at Eagle Farm.
Although beaten four lengths on the day, the effort wasn’t disgraceful, considering she had 59kgs to carry, and after drawing gate 10 of 16, was caught wide most of the way.
Blake Shinn is legged aboard here for the first time and from gate nine, maps to cross and settle in the first half dozen early.
Unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances and already a two-time winner over 1400m trip, we can expect to see a vastly improved effort from the four-year-old and a ticket on both totes looks the way to go in this contest.
Race 4: No.12 Need Some Luck
Peter Snowden saddles-up the four-year-old here who is in top-shelf form of late and second-up in this event, looks a serious chance of back-to-back success.
Last start, the Rubick gelding resumed after six months off the scene and did it in style when he took out a BM88 over 1200m at Randwick.
From gate nine (of 14), he was trapped wide without cover to the turn before eventually finding the lead inside the last 100m and going on to score an impressive win.
Tommy Berry was aboard that day and has secured the ride for this assignment.
He steps-up to Listed company for the first time here but his stats are strong enough to suggest he will up to the challenge.
Already a winner when second-up and has finished top-two in all seven starts over the 1200m trip, he looks right in the mix for another win in this contest.
Race 9: No.2 Wanda Rox
The Lindsay Hatch-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed here to keep that trend going in this event.
Last start, the Wandjina mare made it three-straight top-two finishes when she beat all but one home in the Listed Ascot Quality over 1000m at Eagle Farm.
She began well for Mark Du Plessis and settled just behind the speed before finishing strong, only to be denied by a neck on the line.
The five-year-old drops back to Open class company here and drawn well in gate four, maps to be parked just behind the speed with new pilot Noel Callow in the saddle.
Fourth-up and at her peak here, she boasts five wins and four runner-up finishes from her nine starts at the 1000m trip and looks set to keep that record going in this contest.
