Geelong Tips for July 12 - Kimberley Pearl can score at the eachway odds
Top bets: Princess Montecito, Kimberley Pearl, Maxxi Bon
Focused picks based on fitness, strategic positioning and last start form.

- Geelong Race 1 No. 12- Princess Montecito
- Geelong Race 5 No. 11- Kimberley Pearl
- Geelong Race 7 No. 4- Maxxi Bon
Geelong racing takes place on Friday, July 12, with a nine-race program for the Victorian meeting.
We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Geelong Racecourse.
Geelong Race 1 No. 12- Princess Montecito
There are a few unknowns with some first starters in action in this race but I am willing to have something on Princess Montecito. The Moody/Coleman filly was solid at Geelong over the 1200m on debut when a close 5th, despite racing greenly throughout.
The runner-up out of that race then went on to claim his maiden by four lengths. Princess Montecito has had one subsequent start with that coming on the Pakenham Synthetic, when he couldn’t quite catch Ndola late in the piece.
He has a fitness edge on some of his rivals in this race and the son of Toronado shouldn’t be a Maiden for too long.
Geelong Race 5 No. 11- Kimberley Pearl
Kimberly Pearl shapes as a solid each-way contender in Race 5 of the afternoon at Geelong. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper finished runner-up at Sale two starts ago before stepping out off an eight-week break at Geelong on June 21, running on for 3rd over the 1212, behind Hotel.
She was slowly away that day then was chopped out at the top of the straight before coming again. The daughter of Fastnet Rock draws very wide but the field should string out a bit and with a genuine tempo, she can run over the top of them late.
Geelong Race 7 No. 4- Maxxi Bon
Maxxi Bon has been knocking on the door at his two runs this preparation and should be hard to beat in Race 7.
He resumed on a Heavy track at Sale on June 11 and closed off well to fill the exacta before stepping out at the same track over the 1717m on June 26 when he looked the winner with 50m to go, only to go down in a blanket finish behind Brave Miss.
The Wendy Kelly-trained galloper should be ready to peak third up and draws to save ground from the inside barrier.
