Race 1 No.2- Electric Elvis
Electric Elvis produced an excellent return at Geelong when going down in narrow fashion behind Marble Point over the 1200m. The Grahame Begg-trained galloper can go one spot better in this race. At Geelong, he was posted three-wide no cover and went for home with 250m to go before just being bloused late. He had trialled well prior to that and I suspect the son of Time Test wont be a maiden for too much longer.
Race 3 No.6- Saltburn
Saltburn is another to come out of the Marble Point race and should be an improver after placing 6th. He settled a tad worse than midfield and worked home evenly. At his last preparation he was a big improver on benchmark figures when going from a runner-up at Echuca to a runner-up at Mornington. He might push up to settle a little closer in this race and will be ridden by Jake Noonan, who has provided a 23% profit on investment when combining with the stable.
Race 6 No.3- Toompine
Toompine was well beaten as the exacta horse behind Scampi at Ballarat on April 27 but kept finding the line and should be cherry ripe for the step back up to the 1100m. The six-year-old has not won in over a year but has been close enough in all five of his runs this time in and was a tad unlucky two starts ago over the Geelong 1100m when 3rd behind Grinzinger Sun. He was held up in that race before producing the fastest last 400 and 200m. The Vincent Malady-trained gelding tends to get back but should be suited by the pace in this race with the likes of Dreamzel and Tori’s Dee to go forward. Expect him to be strong late.
Race 8 No.7- Treasureflight
Treasureflight tends to save his best for the Geelong 1325m and can go close in the final race of the day. The Matt Cumani-trained galloper was a dominant five length winner in Maiden grade here four starts ago then went a bit hard at Sandown before an average effort at Ararat. But he showed improvement last time back at Geelong when a close 3rd behind La Pleine Lune and can go a couple of spots better here.
