Echuca racing takes place on Friday, April 18, with an eight-race program set down for Echuca racetrack.
- Race 1 No.5- La Pleine Lune
- Race 4 No.4- Ten Deep
- Race 6 No.8- Just Glamorous
- Race 7 No.1- Rey Magnerio
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Echuca racetrack.
Race 1 No.5- La Pleine Lune
La Pleine Lune can make it back to back wins when he steps out in the opener at Echuca. The Team Hayes galloper resumed at Geelong on April 1 and set a solid tempo up front before sticking on strong to edge the others out. He has now won two of five and has had excuses in a couple of others. The son of Puissance De Lune is yet to win second up but was an improver on benchmark figures at his last campaign and that was. a tough win at Geelong recently. He has firmed in the early betting and will strip fitter.
Race 4 No.4- Ten Deep
Nice race with some promising gallopers in action and Ten Deep can salute at her second run back from a spell. The Moody/Coleman mare resumed in a BenchMark 78 at Sandown on March 26 and settled just behind the leader in the small field in a race that developed into a sit sprint. At her previous second up run she overcame a wide run in transit to claim her Maiden at Cranbourne by six lenghts, before taking out a Saturday race at Sandown last year. She will land on the speed and should be hard to beat with Craig Williams to ride.
Race 6 No.8- Just Glamorous
Just Glamorous shapes as an each-way player in Race 6. The Waterhouse/Bott galloper gets out to the 2000m+ range for the first time and went at a solid clip at Caulfield on April 5 before being grabbed late by Grey Ice over the 1600m. She was entitled to tire, having gone nearly 11 lengths faster than standard until the 600m mark. Blinkers come off for this and she can sting them along and make her own luck, while the daughter of Justify should be at her peak fourth up.
Race 7 No.1- Rey Magnerio
This looks to be a suitable assignment for Rey Magnerio. The Oakleigh Plate (1100m) placegetter was too keen in the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) before placing 7th in the William Reid Stakes (1200m). He drops in grade for this and previous form over the 1000m has been excellent. The son of Magnus has been supported in the early betting and will look to slide into the three-wide line with Jye McNeil to ride from barrier 11. He should be strong late in the piece.
