Eagle Farm racing takes place on Saturday, March 15 with an 11-race program set down for Eagle Farm racetrack.

Race 4: No.16 Red Defcon
Race 5: No.13 Mintaka Lad
Race 6: No.5 Wanda Box

Race 4: No.16 Red Defcon

The Matt Kropp-trained Red Defcon is in career best form this time in and rock-bottom at the weights here, looks a serious contender for back-to-back wins in this event.

Last start, the Defcon mare came off a hat-trick of minor placings when she rang up her second career win, taking out a strong Class 6 Plate over 1350m at Doomben with Cejay Graham on board (for her sixth ride on the mare).

Blowing the start, she was tailed-off, a dozen lengths from the leader and turning for home, could still see them all in the 13-strong field.

Graham stuck to the inside and took every gap that came her way and somehow found a way to win, taking a needle-eye opening along the fence in the final 100m.

Labelled the ride of the day, it was Graham’s fourth winner on the 10-race card.

A last-to-first effort may change starting tactics here where the mare draws well in gate four but could settle back again.

Going around on the limit here with just 56kgs to carry, she give this BM78 a real shake at odds.

Race 5: No.13 Mintaka Lad

David Vandyke saddles-up Mintaka Lad here who has impressed in three starts this preparation and now looks ready to win.

Last start, the Deep Field gelding was third-up and did well to finish third in a BM78 over 1200m at Doomben.

Carrying 60kgs that day, it was a brave effort to finish less than a length from the winner (He’s Heaven) who clocked a sizzling 1:08.9 for the trip.

Fitter for three-straight podium finishes, he steps-up in grade here but drops 3.5kgs for the event with new pilot Martin Harley aboard.

Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to do very little early work and looks to settle near mid-field on the fence.

If Harley can find clean air in the run home, the five-year-old can threaten here and with the runs already on the board, he looks a serious contender in this contest.

Race 6: No.5 Wanda Box

The Lindsay Hatch-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks every box that suggests she is the testing material in this event.

Last start, the Wandjina mare was fresh off a 17-week spell where she kept her unbeaten first-up run going by taking out a BM90, here over 1000m with apprentice Courtney Bellamy aboard for the first time.

Settling just behind the speed, she put out the challenge in the run home and simply out-muscled them to the line.

She meets Open company here but drops in weight with Bellamy remaining aboard for this assignment.

Ideally drawn in gate two, she maps to settle nicely behind the speed where she will have the first crack at them in the run home.

Unbeaten (three from three) at the track and distance and a two-time winner when second-up, she gets all the favours here and should prove hard to beat.
