Doomben racing takes place on Saturday, August 17, with a nine-race program set for the QLD metro meeting.

Race 1: No. 1 Defiant Boom
This three-year-old gelding was placed in his first three race starts including a third behind the smart juvenile Spywire on the Gold Coast.
He won a trial on the Sunshine Coast before breaking through for his maiden win at Doomben first up as favourite and this is a credible step up in class now.
This is the first time he faces a heavy track but the apprentice will use his claim to give relief.
Race 4: No. 1 I See You Coming
Tony Gollan has a very consistent and lightly raced six-year-old gelding in the form of I See You Coming who has been placed in 10 of 15 starts so far in his short career.
He was placed in his first two this prep before breaking through in a restricted race at Doomben by close to a length.
This is an easier task and apprentice Emily Lang will strip three kilos off his assigned 60kg.
Race 8: No. 14 Thesecondatportsea
This mare has been so consistent, both in number of starts and performances, finishing in the top five in her last eight straight.
The last time she saw a heavy track she won on the Sunshine Coast over 1800m but this distance seems ideal for her.
She has an excellent turn of foot and will carry just 52.5kg from barrier six.
Race 9: No. 1 Bacchanalia
A hot little race to end the day and I’ve found one at double figure to finish on a good note.
Bacchanalia has a good overall winning record with six wins and a further six places from 26 starts and has finished in the top two in four of eight goes on a heavy track.
Was beaten by a small margin at Grafton in an open race last start and he’s drawn to get a nice run in transit from barrier five.
