Doomben racing takes place on Wednesday, April 16 with a 9-race program set down for Doomben racetrack.

Race 5: No.6 Waverley
Race 8: No.7 Moscow Circus
Race 9: No.11 Devastate

Race 5: No.6 Waverley

Now based on the Gold Coast, Waverley has had two starts for the Glenn Thornton stable and in top shelf form, looks set to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the No Nay Never gelding was in full flight when he took out a BM65, here over 1640m with Damien Thornton aboard.

With his first look at the Doomben track, he ploughed through the Heavy 9 conditions with 58.5kgs and crossed the line a length clear in the end.

Already a winner over 2000m, the step-up to the 2020m trip here should pose no problems for the four-year-old who has Thornton in the saddle again.

He thrives in wet conditions, having finished on the podium five times on wet tracks already and now a winner here, he will take beating in this contest.

Race 8: No.7 Moscow Circus

Matt Dunn makes the trip north of the border and saddles-up Moscow Circus here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks set for back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Russian Revolution filly improved even further and proved too good when she broke through for her maiden win over 1400m at Eagle Farm.

Damien Thornton rode her a treat that day, settling her outside the leader before taking over at the 300m mark and going on to a comfortable win.

She draws even better here, jumping from gate two where she maps to be just off the speed with Thornton in the saddle again.

Fourth-up and at her peak today, she carries less weight and should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 9: No.11 Devastate

The Tony Gollan-trained Devastate has been a little unlucky of late but gets his chance to turn things around in this event.

Last start, the Vadamos gelding made it a hat-trick of runner-up cheques, finishing second again in Open company over 1600m at Eagle Farm.

Angela Jones was aboard for her ride on the gelding, settling him third in the box seat enjoying the trail to the 600m mark.

Jones then eased him off the fence and half-way home took control and looked the winner but again was denied, this time by stablemate Rising Pacific.

From barrier eight, he maps to cross and settle just behind the speed with Jones taking the reins again for this assignment.

He drops back to the 1350m trip here but is already a three-time winner at the distance.

Down 3kgs from that last start, he can put it all together in this contest.
