Cranbourne racing takes place on Friday, March 14, with an eight-race program set down for Cranbourne racetrack.
- Race 1 No. 2- Factcheck
- Race 3 No. 1- Last Stylebender
- Race 7 No.3- Itsukushima
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Cranbourne racetrack.
Race 1 No. 2- Factcheck
Factcheck should be hard to beat in the opener at Cranbourne. The locally trained galloper has had the three career starts for a couple of minor placings and a 4th in a solid form race on debut. He resumed at Pakenham on February 27 and was posted three wide but kepy coming, only just missing as the exacta horse behind Regal Tycoon. Second up at his last preparation, the son of Press Statement was a 10-length improver on benchmark figures when 3rd at Flemington in the Next Generations Sprinters Series Final (1200m). He has the early speed to push across from the barrier and should be strong at the business end.
Race 3 No. 1- Last Stylebender
There are a few unknowns here with some first starters in action but I am keen to have something on the former Perth galloper, Last Stylebender. The four-year-old has been transferred to the Julien Welsh stables at Cranbourne and his two fresh runs in his career have been super impressive when running quick time to finish runner-up in both. He comes off a dominant trial win in the lead up to his first appearance since last October and this does look to be a weak race.
Race 7 No.3- Itsukushima
Itsukushima can go one spot better than a last start effort that saw him finish runner-up at Morphettville on February 22. The Team Hayes galloper led them up over the 1800m at BenchMark 70 level and gave a kick before just going down late. The winner out of that has since gone on to score again at the recent Adelaide Cup meeting. The consistent galloper gets up to the 2000m journey for the first time and looks up to the task, while he is one from one at the track. Jaylah Kennedy rides and claims the 1.5kg.
