Race 3: No.2 Chico Casino
The Bathurst-based Chico Casino is in great touch this preparation and looks better suited here to ring up career win number three today.
Last start, the Casino Prince gelding couldn’t match it among the stronger company when he finished mid-field in the Class 5 Country Championships Qualifer over 1400m at Orange.
With Mathew Cahill aboard, he settled nicely in the box seat but when the heat was on, he couldn’t go with them and was beaten in the run home.
The four-year-old is sure to find this BM58 a lot easier today where Nick Heywood returns for the ride, having steered him to top-two finishes in both previous rides, including a big Bathurst win two starts back.
Both career wins have come over today’s 1200m trip and from gate seven he maps to cross and settle near the speed.
Down in grade, a trouble-free run should see him hard to beat in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Desirous
The Ross Lomax-trained Desirous has returned to form of late and looks well placed in this company for a tilt at the major prize today.
Last start, the well-bred Capitalist filly came off a Class 1 win at Gilgandra when she took home third prize in a BM58 over 1000m at Warren.
Jake Pracey-Holmes has been aboard once previously and returns for the job in this contest where the filly draws nicely in gate four and maps to be on the speed from barrier rise.
In great touch and well-seasoned this preparation, her first look at the Cowra track shapes-up to be a winning one today.
Race 6: No.5 Take The Chance
The locally-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Shalaa mare broke through for her maiden win over 1200m at Dubbo with Ken Dunbar in the saddle.
She led from barrier to box and despite hanging out from the home turn she gave nothing else a chance, crossing the line 2.5 lengths ahead of the 12-strong field that day, breaking 1:10 for trip.
Dunbar sticks with her today and from barrier eight she maps to cross and settle near the speed.
Even fitter for two runs back now, she lines up here looking the horse to beat in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Lady Revolution
Nick Olive saddles-up Ladt Revolution here who has been racing without any luck of late but gets her chance to turn it around in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Russian Revolution mare appeared to find the 1600m trip a little beyond her where she finished mid-field in the BM58 event at Wagga.
Billy Owen had her box-seating on settling where she travelled well enough to the turn and never stopped chasing in the run home but couldn’t reel them in, crossing the line in fifth place.
She drops back to 1375m today which should suit her better and has Jean Van-Overmeire as the new pilot for this assignment.
Ideally drawn in gate two, she maps to be box-seating on settling and with a clear run to the line, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
