Caulfield Race 1 No. 8- Sunset Dreaming

Sunset Dreaming can open the day up for us with a win. The promising galloper from the Tony & Calvin McEvoy stable resumed at Caulfield on July 27 over the 1100m and was the luckless runner when a narrow runner-up behind Herbert Park. She copped a decent bump at the 300m and lost grond before running on, going a healthy 6.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark. She was an improver with racing at her first prepration before tapering off when set for the Magic Millions but looks to have returned in promising order.

Caulfield Race 5 No. 5- Band Of Brothers

Band Of Brothers looks to be a solid each-way contender in Race 5. The Matthew Ellerton-trained galloper took out his Maiden at Bendigo over the 1100m on July 11 ahead of Let’sfacethemusic, while there was a huge gap back to 3rd in that race. He then jumped sharply in grade to race at Caulfield on July 27 over the 1200m and led at a solid clip before just fading late behind Public Attention, placing 3rd. The runner-up out of that, Ndola, has since won in impressive fashion at Sandown, while it is worth noting that Band Of Brothers went 9.6 lenghts faster than standard benchmark last time, which is a better figure than what any runner in this race has produced. The son of Omaha Beach gets the blinkers on for the first time and is worth plenty of thought at the price.

Caulfield Race 6 No. 5- Kuroyanagi

Keen on the South Australian filly, Kuroyanagi, in the Quezette Stakes (1100m) for the fillies. The Blue Diamond (1200m) placegetter from the autumn resumed in the Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville recently and was a noted drifter before the jump. She settled midifleld and peeled out wide in the straight, running on to just miss out behind Lingani, defying the drift in the process. She will strip fitter for this assignment and was a siginficant improver on benchmark figures second up in the autumn when going from a Gawler Maiden win to a runner-up in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m). Form out of the Diamond was red hot later on in Sydney and I supsect she will meausre up to these.
