Caulfield racing takes place on Wednesday, April 16, with an eight-race program set down for Caulfield racetrack.
- Race 3 No.8- Whateley
- Race 4 No.4- Symphony Of Colour
- Race 6 No. 8- Narbold
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Caulfield racetrack.
Race 3 No.8- Whateley
Whateley resumes in Race 3 and the early money suggest that the Busuttin/Young galloper can make an impact. The three-year-old comes back as a gelding and was solid on debut last year at Flemington when only going down late over the 1420m behind some big names with Sneaky Sunrise, Pisces, Henlein and Jenni’s Meadow finishing in front of him. He was put when battling after a tough run in the Taj Rossi Final (1600m) after that. The son of Written Tycoon has come in from $2.60 when markets opened and this is much easier than his runs last year.
Race 4 No.4- Symphony Of Colour
Symphony Of Colour is another that resumes at Caulfield that brings with her some excellent form from last year. The Dom Sutton filly was 4th when resuming at Listed level behind Bellatrix Star over the 1100m at Flemington before missing out in harder races than this. She was a winner at her only other first up run. 1000m in this grade looks a perfect starting point and she has been a firmer in the early betting
Race 6 No. 8- Narbold
Narbold can be an improver in Race 6. The Chris Waller gelding needed the hitout when resuming over the 1400m at Sandown on March 19, sticking on for a three-length 7th in what was a bit of a sit-sprint behind Bossy Benita. He has an excellent second up record, improving from a 6th at Sandown to a win at Sale at his last preparation, while at his first prep he was a big improver on benchmark figures when runner-up behind Sneaky Sunrise at Flemington. The son of Churchill gets to the mile for the first time and drops in grade. Mark Zahra rides.
