Wyong Racing Tips for 29.7.2021 - Top NSW Tips

We love midweek racing at Wyong and all the big stables have runners on Thursday, including Chris Waller and Bjorn Baker. Our form experts have picked out four of their best runners for the July 29 meeting, which could have an impact on spring New South Wales feature races.

  • Race 2 1:00pm AEST – No. 6 Mister Ripley
  • Race 3 1:35pm AEST – No. 4 Kouklara
  • Race 4 2:10pm AEST – No. 2 Barrichello
  • Race 6 3:25pm AEST – No. 9 Sniper Legend

Race 2 1:00pm AEST – No. 6 Mister Ripley

Mister Ripley is knocking on the door of a win after three consecutive placings and we’re putting him on top. The five-year-old started his run of placings with a third at Wyong and he followed it up with second placings at Taree and Tamworth. Both placings came by a short margin and he deserves a win after 18 attempts. The son of Akeed Mofeed has been well-backed on many occasions, and although punters are getting frustrated, he’s worth another chance.

Getting 3kg off his back is ideal and that drops him to 53kg. He should be competitive at the weights and drawing barrier six is another positive. He should track the speed before making his run on the home turn, which is always a wise move around the tight-turning Wyong circuit.

Race 3 1:35pm AEST – No. 4 Kouklara

Kouklara is another runner getting close to a win and she looked good when running second at Goulburn last start. The Joe Pride-trained three-year-old was under a length behind the winner and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely at maiden level. The daughter of Prince Cheri has shown glimpses of form throughout her five-start career and she doesn’t meet an overly strong maiden field, so she could take advantage.

Tom Sherry is a rider in good form and his confidence could be enough to see punters land the prize with Kouklara. She won’t take long to win a race and she doesn’t get a better opportunity to break the duck on Thursday.

Race 4 2:10pm AEST – No. 2 Barrichello

Chris Waller lines up the three-year-old gelding that owns three placings from four starts and he’s nearing a win. The son of Sebring has been facing tough maiden company in Sydney, including a third placing behind Silly Point and subsequent winner Mystic Rebel at Randwick last start. That race is an excellent form guide and we’re surprised Barrichello isn’t shorter in betting markets.

He has shown a good turn-of-foot in his last three placings and the race hasn’t panned out in his favour. If jockey Tommy Berry can track the speed from barrier two, he should be able to pull out in the straight and launch his late claim. We’re happy with the odds available and we’re expecting bookmakers to trim his odds on race day.

Race 6 3:25pm AEST – No. 9 Sniper Legend

We rate Sniper Legend and the two-year-old son of Capitalist could have a bright future. The Matthew Vella-trained runner finished second on debut before winning fresh up at Hawkesbury by 1.5 lengths on a heavy track. Conditions will be different on Thursday, but he looks like an adaptable type that should handle all track conditions.

His most recent second placing came behind the unbeaten Cueillir, so that form bodes well and it’s only the wide draw that could trip him up. Barrier 10 isn’t ideal, but having senior rider Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle helps, so punters should expect another competitive effort.
