Our blackbookers to follow from racing on July 23 with the team assembling their runners to follow from Caulfield, Doomben & Morphettville.

Race 2 - Berkeley Square (second): Closing off with the fastest last 400m and 200m of the entire meeting, this gelding backed up his brilliant debut win with a slashing run behind a filly who has won her last three starts. Probably wins if he not been baulked for room on the bend, but overall he has shown he can measure up to this class and is going to be the best horse to come out of the race.

Race 6 - I Am War (third): Although technically did no work from the box-seat, I Am War was sticking on via the inferior inside going at Caulfield, with the middle lanes certainly favoured as this meeting wore on. Was 60/1 third-up here after losing at Moe on a heavy track, so has much easier options than this going forward, with a rating of 63.

Race 9 - Mayfair Spirit (third): Too far back in a race that was dominated by those within two lengths on the bend, he was huge when making a sustained run from the back of the field to pinch third. That was just his second-up run and clearly he is one that is going to appreciate more ground going forward, maybe a mile next start. Was also unlucky first-up.

Race 4 - Starla (second): Has found herself in here a few times, but it is fair to say that she wins on Saturday given some more room at the top of the straight. Had the eventual winner to her outside in the run, who had all momentum approaching the straight while this girl was getting over heels before hitting the line hard. She just needs a middle gate to come off the fence earlier.

Race 6 - Easifar (second): Beaten by a good one on Saturday and it was just as impressive to see this mare put a space on the third placed horse. A clear second elect in the market, it was expected that she put forward a positive run, but on face value she did it and looks ready to win. Off the bit at the top of the straight, she may be in need of a touch further now.

Race 9 - Don't Stop (third): Has had zero luck in three of four runs this prep and was six weeks between runs going into his Sunny Coast effort on June 3, so he should be able to at least hold his form for now. Did a power of work early on July 9 before tiring late and kept surging here despite racing three-wide the trip. With a low draw, he likely wins this.

Race 6 - Sabermetric (fifth): Didn't have much luck at start three when badly held-up at Murray Bridge and that followed a win and second to start his career. Freshened-up off a poor showing on June 25, this gelding returned with the blinkers on and looking well beaten on the turn after racing three-wide, he's picked up again late. Decent effort with no favours.

Race 8 - Kalamon (sixth): Sent out at big odds with no first-up form, this rising six-year-old was chasing a long way out off a decent tempo and although entitled to get home, he was certainly doing his best work late. Kalamon is an out-and-out miler with a low rating of 60, yet his overall record is okay. Will find his right race third or fourth-up over further.

Race 9 - My Khalifa (fourth): Todd Pannell had a great day and was trying to save My Khalifa for one last dash, with this galloper absolutely bolting at the 200m, but was held-up behind the eventual winner and Headphones, who did shift in. He wins if he gets that gap, but has still improved with every run back from a long spell, so sticking with him.
