Steve Bennett picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Rosehill on June 14.
  • Race 1:  Queen Of Clubs
  • Race 5:  Codetta
  • Race 10:  Sacred Rocks

Who were the eyecatchers, who should you add to your black book for upcoming races and meetings and who do we recommended following in the weeks and months ahead?

Race 1:  Queen Of Clubs

The Gary Portelli-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and showed plenty of improvement to take out the Two-Year-Old event.

Settling near the tail of the field, after drawing gate 10 of 12, Andrew Calder rode the filly patiently to the turn before weaving through the gaps and finished too strong for them in the end.

That was her first look at the 1400m and after winning that with some to spare, even more ground could be looked at in future racing.

Race 5:  Codetta

The Nicconi filly was second-up on Saturday and having no luck in the run, put in an eye-catching performance to finish third in the BM72 Handicap.

From gate seven, the three-year-old was caught wide from the outset and tracked even wider on the turn before running home stoutly, beaten less than two lengths on the line.

Now fitter for two runs back, she can only improve further from here and is well worth following for a few more runs.

Race 10:  Sacred Rocks

The Victorian-based galloper was second-up off a 14-week break and was arguably the eye-catcher of the day on Saturday when she defied the odds to score a very impressive win.

Experiencing the clockwise way of going for the first time, the Sacred Falls mare was also trapped wide to the turn before tracking wider in the turn where she made the run home down the centre of the track and inside the final 100m, found something extra to grab victory near the line.

The promising mare has plenty of upside and finishing top-two in all five career starts to date gives a good indication she has a big future ahead.  Stick with her.
