Randwick Racing Tips for 4.8.2021 - Favourites to reign supreme

The favourites have been heavily backed at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday and it doesn't come as much of a surprise. There are some high-quality thoroughbreds in action and runners from the likes of the James Cummings and Bjorn Baker stables could steal the show in Sydney.
  • Race 2 1:25pm AEST – No. 6 Sir Crackle
  • Race 3 2:00pm AEST – No. 10 Trifaccia
  • Race 6 3:45pm AEST – No. 7 Mystic Rebel
  • Race 7 4:20pm AEST – No. 6 Parksville

Race 2 1:25pm AEST – No. 6 Sir Crackle

Punters were disappointed with the effort from Sir Crackle last start, but the Bjorn Baker-trained gelding was asked to do too much in the run. The three-year-old son of Choisir weakened to finish eighth at Rosehill after setting the pace, but punters should forgive the effort as he was taken on in front and had little peace.

He finished 3.4 lengths behind Silent Impact and that form has stacked up nicely since. Therefore, we see no reason why he can’t drop in class and produce the goods on Wednesday. His opening odds of $4.80 have been taken and the betting plunge is a good sign.

Race 3 2:00pm AEST – No. 10 Trifaccia

Most of the early money has come for Trifaccia, who faced tough opposition throughout her first campaign. The James Cummings-trained three-year-old ran third on debut at Randwick behind Bourbon Flyer before running third again behind Glistening. That form stacked up in much higher grades and it bodes well for her breaking maiden status soon.

The daughter of I Am Invincible ended her preparation with a seventh at Randwick, but she was only 2.8 lengths behind the winner and the run was better than it looked. Having track experience helps and having James McDonald in the saddle doesn’t hurt her chances. Punters have to take short odds, but she looks the logical bet in this contest.

Race 6 3:45pm AEST – No. 7 Mystic Rebel

We like the way Mystic Rebel scored at Kembla Grange last month and it bodes well for her future. The patiently handled four-year-old scored by 2.3 lengths and she showed a fine turn-of-foot, which is always good to have at the start of a career. The daughter of Dissident is bred to handle the rise in distance and going from 1400m to 1550m shouldn’t pose a problem.

Getting the inside draw is ideal for a runner that likes to hug the fence and carrying 56kg helps. She has been well-backed to win and that’s hardly surprising given her most recent win. Punters should have her on top of selections.

Race 7 4:20pm AEST – No. 6 Parksville

We’re putting the winner of three from four starts on top in a competitive race. The four-year-old faces a steep rise in class after winning at the likes of Coffs Harbour and Ballina, but he deserves a chance given his ease of victory. The son of Vancouver won by two lengths at Ballina before doubling down and winning by 2.5 lengths at Coffs.

There has been good early betting support after opening at $4.40 and that is a good sign for a country-trained runner. Drawing barrier 10 could be tricky over 1100m, so it requires a good ride from Josh Parr, but he’s a confident jockey and Parksville has good natural speed to burn.
