Kyneton Racing Tips 12.10.2021 - 4 Best Bets

Kyneton hosts an eight-race card on Tuesday, October 12, and we have our four best bets available. Two of our four tips are ridden by superstar Damian Lane.
  • Race 1 1:30pm No. 5 Kaleidoscope Eyes
  • Race 4 3:00pm No. 10 Daario
  • Race 5 3:30pm No. 10 Big Angel
  • Race 7 4:30pm No. 7 Trinity’s Reward

Race 1 1:30pm No. 5 Kaleidoscope Eyes

The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old finished fifth on debut at Cranbourne and has improved in two runs since. She is a daughter of Your Song, who then finished fourth behind the talented Xtra Gear at Geelong before running second at Kyneton last start. She was only a nose from breaking maiden status, so she has her hoof on the till.

Drawing barrier 14 isn’t ideal, but she gets the experienced John Allen in the saddle, which is a bonus. She has also been backed in from an opening quote of $2.40, so that’s a solid move for the favourite in the opening race of the day.

Race 4 3:00pm No. 10 Daario

Daario comes over from New Zealand with solid form, and his first run in Australia was a pleasing effort. The Baker/Forsman-trained three-year-old owns three placings from six starts, including a third placing at Bendigo in similar conditions to this race. However, that came over 1600m, so the rise to 1887m is right up his alley.

He is a son of Real Impact, so he’s a stayer in the making. Getting Damian Lane in the saddle is ideal as he’s a great judge of pace in staying events. Daario draws the inside barrier, so he won’t have to do much work in the run. $2.05 is a fair price from bookmakers after he opened at $2.15.

Race 5 3:30pm No. 10 Big Angel

Chris Waller lines up the four-year-old mare, who owns two second placings from as many starts over this track and distance. The daughter of Zoustar has finished in the money in six of her 10 career starts, so there is plenty of upside with Big Angel. Her win came two back at Mornington before running second at Kilmore, so her confidence levels are up.

It’s another premium ride for Damian Lane, and he’s not going to do much work off an inside barrier. We expect Lane to position her slightly closer to the pace, where she could grind away and score her second career win. $3.30 is a good price from bookmakers as we expected shorter odds.

Race 7 4:30pm No. 7 Trinity’s Reward

Trinity’s Reward wasn’t far off making it three wins on the bounce at Kyneton last start, so she is a four-year-old mare worth following. The daughter of Warrior’s Reward scored her first win at Wodonga by just under a length before backing up at Moe by 1.3 lengths. There was plenty to like about those wins, and her best efforts have clearly come on rain-affected tracks.

She was beaten by under a length at Kyneton last start after getting quite far back in the run. It was a solid effort and punters have come for her in early markets. She opened at $5.50 and has firmed to $3.90, which is a good sign.
