Adam Cusworth picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Flemington on June 8.
  • Electric Impulse (Race 2)
  • Craig (Race 3)
  • Berkshire Breeze (Race 4)

Who were the eyecatchers, who should you add to your black book for upcoming races and meetings and who do we recommended following in the weeks and months ahead?

Electric Impulse (Race 2)

It was a promising run by Electric Impulse in Race 2.

The four-year-old has now had three runs this time in and was solid when resuming at Bendigo before battling on Soft ground at the Warrnambool carnival.

Thought her run at Flemington was full of merit, given that she raced keenly in the middle stages before not enjoying much room at the top of the straight.

The Henry Dwyer mare then closed off well for 4th and can land a few spots better in similar grade at her next few starts.

Craig (Race 3)

It was a tough watch for those that backed Craig in Race 3 at Flemington.

The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper was well supported in the market to start as a $3.50 favourite and settled midfield over the 1600m.

Rise At Dawn took up the running at the top of the straight and kicked clear as Craig was held up from the 400m to the 250m.

Once out, the son of Territories rattled home and just about looked the winner on the line but was denied in a head-bobber.

He was in front just after the post. He is definitely one that can measure up to city grade and in similar class at his next few starts.

Berkshire Breeze (Race 4)

Nice win by Berkshire Breeze in Race 4 of the day at Flemington.

The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper produced the run of the day when winning by nearly five lengths over the 2500m and settled in a midfield position before taking over as the cornered.

The lightly raced five-year-old is into his second preparation since coming over from Great Britain and has now won two on the trot.

He seemed to relish the step up in distance and is one to keep in mind for some of the staying races in Melbourne over the spring.
