Saturday racing in Melbourne was at Caulfield on May 10 for a nine-race programme.
  • Race 1, Two-Year-Olds (1100m)- Prince Tycoon & Milennium Blade
  • Race 4, Three-Year-Old Fillies (1400m)- Madiyya
  • Race 8- BenchMark 100 (1400m)- Jimmy The Bear

Here are our blackbookers and horses to follow from the action.

Race 1, Two-Year-Olds (1100m)- Prince Tycoon & Milennium Blade

Prince Tycoon was an impressive winner at Caulfield in the opener. The youngster was making his debut and started as a $2 favourite after some strong trial form. he was a bit wayward in the straight but did the job and might head to Queensland for some rich races on offer for the two-year-olds. Milennium Blade was also solid on debut, placing 3rd. He was working into it with the fastest 400m-200m split but lost a bit of momentum when Prince Tycoon shuffled out before being disappointed for a run in the last 200m. He shapes as a future winner with better luck at his next start.

Race 4, Three-Year-Old Fillies (1400m)- Madiyya

Madiyya was another promising galloper that scored at Caulfield. The half sister to the former gun horse, Grunt, she was stepping up sharply in grade after a dominant Maiden win at Sale and cruised to a strong victory ahead of Rockin’ At Midnite. The Team Hayes-trained galloper closed off with the fastest last 400m and 200m and looks ready for a tilt at Group level and over further distance.

Race 8- BenchMark 100 (1400m)- Jimmy The Bear

Nice return by Jimmy The Bear in Race 8. The six-year-old was stepping out for his first run since last spring and settled in a midfield spot but was wide no cover throughout. He worked hard and produced the fastest 400m-200m split before sticking on well with the second fastest last 200m. He targeted some harder races last spring, featuring in the Testa Rossa Stakes (1400m) and the Toorak Handicap (1600m) but the winter races might be his go and we can expect him to chalk up a win or two if his first up effort is anything to go by.
