Horses to follow and blackbookers who caught the Blackbook.com.au team's eye at the Belmont meeting on August 14.
Race 1 - Success Play (second)
Showed ability early days and gelded ahead of this campaign, is building well, but simply needs further than the 1400m he contested here second-up. The winner and Flower In The Wind (third) both had the suck runs and after being left flat-footed a few times, the son of Playing God was the big eye-catcher late. Nice horse, just needs more racing.
Race 5 - Scorpion Stormz (third)
A lightly raced five-year-old with a 62 rating, but just one win, so can easily come back through the lower grades now. Was the clear outsider of the race at 60/1, resuming over 1000m, a trip that is too short, although with a better barrier he would've made it interesting. Hard to miss late after being eased back and beaten for speed a little early.
Race 6 - Born To Try (third)
Admittedly becoming a little harder to place now with a rating of 75, but she simply doesn't run a bad race and over any distance at a mile or further, this mare warrants respect. Was effectively first-up here (around seven weeks between runs) following a 2200m win in June and in a leader dominated race, was the only runner making impression from off the speed.
