Horses to follow and blackbookers who caught the team's eye at the Ascot meeting on May 15.

Race 2 - Pale Rider (fifth). Was spotting race experience to the first four home and three of those are winners. Never in winning calculations here given the slow tempo but was the only runner making any inroads from off the speed, holding a safe margin on Disengo (sixth). A drop back to Maiden company and/or a step up in trip will suit.

Race 5 - Grateful Girl (second). There was early money for her, however, she was a notable drifter late ($2.60-$3.50) and despite catching the eye from an impossible position, found the 1100m too sharp on resumption. Had recorded back-to-back wins prior to a spell, both of those victories at 1200m. Can work through the grades winter.

Race 9 - Nerodio (second). They were a little too negative early which resulted in this gelding being forced to sustain a wide run and still looked winner, but the charmed run through for Son Of Bacchus with 3.5kg less ultimately proved the difference. Arguably should've won second-up as well and all six of his victories have come at Belmont.
