Race 1 No.9- Chili Reaper
Chili Reaper can open up the day with a win. The Patrick & Michelle Payne-trained galloper has had just the one career start and was 5th at Sale. She settled worse than midfield over the 1100m and produced the fastest 600m-400m split but just lacked the dash at the business end in a race that developed into a sit sprint. She should be an improver off that and worth noting that the 4th placegetter has since come out and claimed her maiden by four lenghts at Cranbourne. Expect her to go well.
Race 4 No. 2- Absolute Sunshine
This looks to be the one for the former Hong Kong galloper, Absolute Sunshine. The Casterton and Ballarat winner from 2022 never fired in his time in HK but has returned with a couple of placings with those coming at Ballarat and Ararat. The Hayes galloper didn't enjoy much clear air at the business end at Ararat on March 27 over the 1306m when narrowly missing behind Maximum Power. The 4th placegetter out of that has since gone on to dominate his rivals at Swan Hill. Absolute Sunshine comes into this third up and will strip fitter, while the extra distance is a positive.
Race 7 No.1- Rocket Tiger
Keen on Rocket Tiger in the final race of the day at Benalla. The Wangaratta galloper has been competitive in the city at his past two starts, finishing runner-up at Sandown before a two-length 6th behind Heart Of Glass at Caulfield a couple of Saturday’s ago. He clocked some solid late sectionals last time and this looks easier, while the 4kg claim gets his down to a winnable weight.
