Belmont Racing Tips for August 3
Belmont Racing

Belmont racing takes place on Saturday, August 3, with a 9-race program set down for the Belmont track.
  • Race 3: No.5  Cruise To Victory
  • Race 5: No.4  Triple Jay
  • Race 7: No.8  Sentimental Belle
  • Race 8: No.4  Covert Rose

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for the Belmont racecourse.

Race 3: No.5  Cruise To Victory

The Team Williams-trained Cruise To Victory is high-flying this time in and looks poised to pounce again in this event.

Last start, the Lucky Street gelding came off a huge win in Class 5 company when he finished third at Belmont with the 1600m getting the better of him that day.

Racing keenly throughout, William Pike did his best to contain him but when the whips were cracking, he had very little left to offer, having to settle for the minor prize in the event.

He drops back to the much-preferred 1400m here where he has found the podium five times from his eight starts at this distance.

Drawn well in gate six, he maps to settle near mid-field and with a clear run to the line, he looks set to bounce back in this contest.

Race 5: No.4  Triple Jay

Team Pearce saddle-up Triple Jay here who is in top-shelf form this campaign and ticks all the boxes that suggest he can bring-up the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Street Boss gelding made it three wins from his past four outings when he took out a BM78, here over the 1400m trip.

Brad Parnham made it two wins on the trot with the gelding as he tracked the leader into the straight, then took over and held them all at bay to collect the gold medal.

He steps-up to BM84 company here and despite that, still carries more weight but his current form suggests he can manage that at this stage in his preparation.

Brad Parnham sticks with him here as he too shoots for three-on the-trot with the five-year-old who has two wins and three minor placings from his six starts at the track, glowing on his resume.

He has work to do from the outside gate (8) but has the early speed to cross and settle near mid-field.

A trouble-free run from there should see him fighting out the finish in this contest.

Race 7: No.8  Sentimental Belle

Another from the Team Williams stable is Sentimental Belle who has also won three of her last four starts and boasting track specialist status here, looks the best of the day.

Last start, the Nicconi mare made it back-to-back victories when she made light work of a One Metro Win event, here over 1200m.

William Pike was aboard for his tenth ride on the mare when she came from back in the field and took control inside the final 100m, crossing the line more than a length ahead of the big 16-strong field.

She gets the gun-run from gate one here where she maps to settle near mid-field with plenty of cover as Pike remains in the saddle for this assignment.

Coming off a seven-day back-up, the five-year-old ticks all the boxes and looks the benchmark for this contest.

Race 8: No.4  Covert Rose

Team Williams and William Pike team-up here again, this time with Covert Rose who is unbeaten in two starts this time in and looks in line for the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the Dissident mare was second-up and coming off a Class 3 win when she franked that effort by beating home similar company over 1680m at Bunbury.

William Pike was aboard for both rides and sticks with the mare for this assignment.

The five-year-old is well served at the barrier, jumping from gate three where she maps to settle in the first four or five.

Nearing her peak after two runs back, she is already a winner at the track and distance and carrying even less weight here, looks a genuine contender for the main prize in this contest.
