Ballarat racing takes place on Tuesday, July 1, with a seven-race program set down for Ballarat racetrack.
  • Race 1 No.10- Keeni
  • Race 3 No.3- Dun Wondering
  • Race 5 No.10- Max Rock

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Ballarat racetrack.

Race 1 No.10- Keeni

Nice debut by Keeni to finish runner-up at Seymour over the 1000m on June 10 and the Moody/Coleman galloper can go one spot better here. At Seymour, the daughter of Pierata drew wide and settled back on a slow tempo before working home very strongly over the final 400m to just miss, putting a bit of a gap to 3rd. She will strip fitter for this assignment and the step to the 1200m looks like it will suit, while she draws to advantage this time from barrier 1.

Race 3 No.3- Dun Wondering

Dun Wundering just needs to handle the sharp step up in trip from the 1500m to the 2100m to take this out. The locally trained galloper has had the three career starts and did a few things wrong when first up by racing greenly, fading into 4th over the 1500m behind Winning Toast. At her most recent assignment she was posted wide no cover the trip but settled much better and kept coming, filling the exacta behind Morthan Efficient. The daughter of Dundeel is bred to get the trip and likes the surface.

Race 5 No.10- Max Rock

Max Rock relished the switch back to the Synthetic when resuming here last week and it might be worth sticking with the four-year-old at a  nice price. He careered to a dominant four-length win ahead of Grundy Three Votes, settling worse than midfield in that race and wobbling around a bit in the straight but proving to be far too good. The son of Magnus jumps to BenchMark 64 but comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and will take a bit of holding out.
