Dean Yendall Form Guide

With over 2230 winners in the books, Dean Yendall is an absolute workhorse in the Australian jockey ranks.

His winning strike rate of 12% is solid and although he doesn’t have many Group 1 wins in the bank (4), he is a proven rider at the provincial and country circuits.

His best statistics come at the provincial circuits such as Warrnambool and Bendigo and his association with former trainer Darren Weir is what projected Yendall back into the spotlight.

He has had 635 rides for Weir just this season and that’s an incredible number.

Other trainers that use Yendall include Symon Wilde, Jarrod McLean and Dan O’Sullivan, but the loss of Weir to the training ranks could hurt Yendall’s value.

Dean Yendall jockey history & key facts

Yendall had to wait 30 years to ride his first Group 1 winner when scoring with Yankee Rose in the 2016 Spring Champion Stakes. The win, accompanied by a classic post-race interview, put Yendall back on the map as a Group 1 rider.

He would add three more Group 1 wins, including the 2016 Myer Classic with I Am A Star.

Yendall has had a long association with Darren Weir but with that partnership dissolving in 2019, we’re unsure how many rides Yendall will continue to pick up at age 44.
