Darwin Cup Day Betting tips

Races at the jump

The Darwin Cup is the Northern Territory’s number one racing day.

Conducted during the dry season in the top end, a number of ex Victorian and NSW horses like to settle in the NT, and usually are the best gallopers in the Darwin Cup mix.

Finding winners at Fanny Bay can be a tricky affair, but starting your selections by seeing if they have run and won in other racing jurisdictions is a good place to start.

Darwin Cup Day Bookie Offers

There’s not a great precedence set on Darwin markets, which means bookmaker bonuses can be scarce in the top end.

While the bookmakers may offer a promotion on the feature event of the day, some bookies may look to bypass the meet entirely.

Darwin Cup Day Odds

The Darwin Cup is not a big fixture on the Australian thoroughbred racing calendar, which means markets sometimes take a bit longer than other meets to materialise.

Keep an eye on this page for markets on the Darwin Cup and the other races that are run as part of the Carnival.

Darwin Cup Day Field

The final fields for the major Darwin Cup will be settled a week prior to the running.

We’ll keep you updated as to the finalised fields for the races, including the feature of the festival.

Darwin Cup Day Form Guide

When it comes to the Darwin races it can be a bit of a crap shoot unless you follow the racing throughout the entire year.

Our recommendation when it comes to Fanny Bay racing is to check which runners have come from the stronger states such as NSW and Victoria. The ex-Victorian horses have a habit of winning the feature event, with Zahspeed winning the Darwin Cup following a move up north.

Darwin Cup Day Previous Results & Winners

The races might not gone a lot of attention outside of the Northern Territory but for the locals the Darwin Cup is the must-see event of the year.

The 2018 Darwin Cup winner was Zahspeed.

It is hard to gauge the Darwin Cup contenders this far out from the feature with horses very rarely getting set on a path towards the NT feature.

Darwin Cup Day history & key facts

The Darwin Cup Carnival is one of Australia’s most festive racing experiences.

40,000 fans usually attend the Fanny Bay racecourse, all from different parts of the country.
There’s $200,000 on offer for the Darwin Cup winner, but the Carnival is more about the experience than the racing for the participants.
