2020 Silver Shadow Stakes Predictions, Preview & Betting Tips

The Silver Shadow Stakes is one of the highlight races on the August 24 card at Randwick.

Although the Group 1 Winx Stakes will take centre stage, the Silver Shadow has attracted a field which is set to excite.

Boom thoroughbreds Libertini, Flit and Tenley are expected to run over the 1200m distance and we’re excited about the new-season three-year-old types.

All the hype surrounds Libertini, who trainer Anthony Cummings labeled as one of his best in the stable.

2020 Silver Shadow Stakes Best Bet – Libertini @ 2.00

It’s no secret that trainer Anthony Cummings thinks the world of Libertini, but we’re starting to believe him.

The three-year-old filly was beaten on debut in the Kindergarten Stakes behind subsequent winner Bivouac and that form is red-hot for the Silver Shadow.

She was able to beat Athiri in that race before going out and scoring her maiden at Randwick by 3.3 lengths. That was backed up with a stunning two-length win in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone.

Her turn-of-foot was explosive and she has group-winning class stamped all over her. That stems from her breeding (I Am Invincible x. Aloha) and she is living up to those expectations at the moment.

Punters will have to take the 2.00 on offer but she will likely start as an odds-on pop come race day.

2020 Silver Shadow Stakes Best Each Way – Tenley @ 7.00

There is also a big wrap on Tenley for the James Cummings stable. The three-year-old grey filly has experience with three wins from five starts and she’s a leading hope.

Her two defeats came in the Golden Slipper and Sires’ Produce where she clearly didn’t handle the wet tracks, but conditions are going to suit nicely on Saturday.

It’s hard to ignore her first three wins and her win in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes came in front of some nice types. That included recent winner and Magic Millions winner Exhilarates.

7.00 is a fair price from bookmakers as there are some doubts fresh up, but she’s all class on her day.

Tenley wins the Reisling Stakes and looks a strong chance in the Silver Shadow Stakes

2020 Silver Shadow Best Roughie – Let It Pour @ 11.00

Bjorn Baker lines up the Redoute’s Choice filly which has more improvement to come after finishing second in the Rosebud.

That run was better than expected behind Dawn Passage and we’re expecting that form to stack up nicely in the age-group races this spring.

Her only other run was a third behind Anaheed in the Sweet Embrace but given her breeding, watch out as she steps up in distance.

1200m might not suit her best this time around but she’s certainly an each-way hope at the odds.

We are excited to see the return of Libertini and punters should be, too. She’s a quality type in the making and our clear best bet for the Silver Shadow Stakes.

Tenley and Let It Pour should give punters a good run for their money.
