Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival Bet of the day

In what looms as her final Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign, any race the Chris Waller-trained Winx confronts should be a walk in the park for the mare.

Last year she recorded wins in the Chipping Norton Stakes, the George Ryder and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. If Waller takes her to all three races in 2019 there’s no reason to doubt she will do the business once again in the trio of Group 1 events.

Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival history & key facts

Racing has been synonymous with Sydney since its inception in Australia, with major races taking place almost every month in the NSW capital.

The big change to racing in Sydney however has been The Championships.

Launching in 2014, Racing NSW looked to implement a “Grand Final” of racing in NSW, shifting around a number of Group 1 events to Royal Randwick. Ran over the first two weekends of April, a total of $20 in prizemoney is on offer for owners and trainers throughout The Championships.

The Championships is the crown jewel of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but there are still a number of key Group 1 events such as the Chipping Norton Stakes and the Golden Slipper take place throughout autumn in the NSW capital.
