The Tattersalls Tiara is the final Group 1 of the Brisbane Winter Carnival and it runs on June 21.

Featuring a field packed full of the best fillies and mares around Australia, the Tattersalls Tiara is always an exciting race and a great way to close the carnival.

Held at Eagle Farm and worth $500,000, the Tattersalls Tiara has attracted a stellar field, with the likes of Pohutakawa, Multaja and recent Group 1 winner Spright.

2020 Tattersalls Tiara Best Bet – Pohutukawa @ 7.00

Pohutukawa was desperately unlucky when running third in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas. Jockey Blake Shinn admitted to making a mistake when going along the inside of runners instead of pulling wide.

Despite this, the James Cummings-trained filly flashed home for third behind Kolding and Baccarat Baby.

That form looks good and if there’s any amount of moisture in the surface, her chances of winning increase significantly.

She was a winner on Melbourne Cup Day, which was run on a heavy track but with the weather looking food for the weekend, she might have to soak up a good 3 surface. However, she’s an adaptable type which looks ready to score another win.

2020 Tattersalls Tiara Best Each Way – Multaja @ 7.00

A stablemate to Pohutukawa, Multaja burst through runners to score the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes at Doomben and that looks to be good form.

She’s a Godolphin filly which has won five of her 12 starts and although she gets back in the run and flashes home late, she’s always a big winning threat.

Horses that get back in the run have a less chance of winning a race. That’s her downside but she possesses a big turn-of-foot and that can also win you many races.

She was a drifter in the betting last start due to the 1200m distance but she still cleared out for an easy victory.

Rising up in distance to 1400m is ideal for this and if there’s good early speed, watch her fly home late once again.

Multaja

2020 Tattersalls Tiara Best Roughie – Spright @ 11.00

Spright was a winner of the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic only three starts ago and that form shouldn’t be overlooked for this.

Garry Frazer lines up the five-year-old mare which subsequently ran third in The Goodwood and fourth in the Stradbroke Handicap. There’s little wrong with that form and she could be overlooked as a serious winning chance.

She is another runner that is going to get back during the run, but if they go quickly up front, her turn-of-foot is up there with the best.

11.00 is a generous price on offer from bookmakers and we’re expecting punters to dip into that price come race day. It would pay to lock in the value now while it lasts.
