2020 Memsie Stakes Best Bet – Alizee @ 2.60
Alizee is a James Cummings-trained mare which has won over $2.3 million in stake money and deserves to be favourite.
The five-year-old comes into this having finished first in the Group 2 Missile Stakes at Rosehill and that was a good hit-out for the Memsie Stakes.
She is a past Group 1 winner of the Futurity at Caulfield and having that track experience is a big help agaisnt this field.
2.60 is a fair price from bookmakers and we're expecting a top effort.
2020 Memsie Stakes Best Each Way – Scales of Justice @ 5.50
Scales of Justice made a huge impression when winning the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield last start.
It was his first start in eight months and he scored easily by 3.3 lengths over the likes of Jungle Edge, Sesar and Cliff’s Edge. That was an incredible performance from a talented sprinter which had fallen out of favour with punters in recent times.
He didn’t have a good Perth Summer Racing Carnival when running fifth in the Lee Steere Stakes and third in the Colonel Reeves Stakes but he has rebounded nicely.
This is the same Scales of Justice that won the Group 1 Railway Stakes in 2016 and if he’s anywhere near that form, the Memsie Stakes field could be put on notice.
2020 Memsie Stakes Best Roughie – Begood Toya Mother @ 9.00
Begood Toya Mother just keeps on winning and he gets his chance to shine on the big stage at Caulfield.
The Daniel Bowman-trained runner has now rattled off six consecutive wins after capturing the Regal Roller Stakes at Caulfield last start.
He is being thrown into the deep end here but he goes forward and will give them all something to catch.
We're excited to see what he's going to do at this level.
Alizee is the class horse of the field and we're not surprised to see her well-backed to win.
Scales of Justice and Begood Toya Mother could add some spark to the race at nice odds.
