2020 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

The Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes is a Group 1 held at Caulfield and the 2019 has attracted an even market for punters to enjoy.

Begood Toya Mother is a loose 5.50 favourite and that means punters are getting great value for every runner.

Some of Australia’s best have taken out the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and we’re looking forward to this year’s edition in mid-September, which contains winning form throughout the field.

2020 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Best Bet – Begood Toya Mother @ 5.50

That was an impressive effort to run sixth in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes last month and he should build nicely from that.

Trained by Daniel Bowman, the five-year-old had won his last six starts prior to that but didn’t lose any admirers with the run.

Winning at Group 1 level isn’t easy but the son of Myboycharlie looks to have enough ability to push this field close.

Many of the top line thoroughbreds are bypassing the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and that plays right into the hands of Begood Toya Mother.

He’s an on-pace runner which makes his own luck and the potentially-small field will also help. Look for him to go forward and control the pace.

Caulfield is an ideal track for front runners and the odds on offer are good value.

2020 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Best Each Way – So Si Bon @ 9.00

For a long time So Si Bon was the laughing stock of the Group 1 horses. However, he’s now in career-best form.

The six-year-old gelding won the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap at Flemington before running second behind Scales of Justice in the Memsie Stakes.

There’s no better form for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes than the Memsie Stakes, so he must be considered as a winning hope.

Lindsay Park might have figured out how to win with the three-time winner. His strike rate is awful but he has clearly improved in 2019.

We’re prepared to give So Si Bon a chance to score his fourth career win.

2020 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Best Roughie – Deprive @ 13.00

This is a steep rise in class for the James Cummings-trained runner, but the gelding has plenty of upside.

He has rattled off seven wins from 10 starts and although none of those came against the very best, he’s still maturing into a nice horse.

It’s tough to rule out any runner from the Cummings stable at present and given Deprive’s professional racing tactics, he could turn into a Group 1 winner.

Punters will get to see Deprive in action at Moonee Valley this Saturday and if he produces a big effort, expect his odds for the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes to firm.

The only negative with Deprive is his back of experience at Caulfield.

It's not an easy track to see for the first time, so watch how he runs at The Valley as that will be a good guide for future Melbourne runs.

There is good money with Begood Toya Mother and it should be tough to beat at Caulfield.

Punters will also enjoy the odds around So Si Bon and Deprive, which have the talent to win at the Group 1 level.
