The Group One Golden Slipper Stakes is Australia's premier two-year-old race and with four other group one features, headlines one of the biggest race days on the calendar.

With a total prize pool of $5 milliion dollars, the most sought after juvenile race in the land has lended itself to many popular champions over the years with a winning honor roll which includes past winners such as Todman, Sky High, Vain, Manikato, Miss Finland, Sepoy and Pierro just to name a few.

With Coolangatta soaking up so much of the early market percentage, along with Sejardan and Shalatin, we're looking for the early value ahead of the 2022 Golden Slipper.

Golden Slipper Tips

Value Bet - Asteria

This filly is a full-sister to Profiteer, the beaten fav in last year's Golden Slipper and while that colt is still high class, he just didn't have the maturity for a high pressure 1200m.

Asteria was raw, but similar to her brother in a December 7 trial, leading throughout in good time, going around four lengths faster for that morning than the listed placed Miss Hellfire.

Promptly tipped out by trainer Mark Newnham, it will be fascinating to see the 2022 return from this two-year-old, who could easily win early and have her Golden Slipper price slashed.

Value Bet - Metallicity

A half-brother to Catch Me, a dual group-winning juvenile is this strapping colt by Zoustar, who visually has been as impressive as most of the Sydney crop at the trials so far.

After reeling his rivals in via easily the fastest two-year-old trial on December 21, Metallicity was equally as impressive at Rosehill, again in good time for the class.

Team Snowden are always prominent in the juvenile majors, having already produced Magic Millions chance Russian Conquest, and this colt could be destined for bigger things.

Roughie - Vancouver's Crown

This galloper out of the good producing mare Amber's Crown, a slick juvenile herself who is the dam to four handy gallopers, that include Shooting For Gold and Mo's Crown.

Vancouver's Crown didn't run time on November 3, but he moved beautifully through his gears ahead of the Max Lees Classic, where he raced in restricted room on debut.

After failing to fire at start two, it's a breath of fresh air to see connections geld a two-year-old, which will allow him to fulfill his potential, so the autumn return will be interesting.
