Doomben 10000 Tips - Sunshine In Paris to overcome trick barrier in the Doomben 10000

Sunshine In Paris is favourite for the Doomben 10000 but has history against her with 21 of the past 23 winners coming from barrier 7 or lower. 

The All Aged Stakes (1400m) placegetter is one of three that come out of the Randwick Group 1 alongside Benedetta (5th) and Desert Lightning (8th). She draws barrier 11 but will be ridden by James McDonald and has an excellent record over the 1200m. 

Overpass will be out to make amends after dropping out of it in his bid to claim the $4 million The Quokka (1200m) at Ascot recently, putting a blemish on his otherwise perfect record in major sprints in the west. He comes into barrier 7 after a trio of early scratchings. 

Schwarz comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner, having gone 11.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark when taking out the William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley at his most recent start. 

The four-year-old is one of three last start winners in the race, alongside MZUE AND Libertad. 

We are likely to race of a Soft track or worse with possible showers on the day. Overpass, Schwarz and Jedibeel look most suited to the conditions. 

Zarasto might hold the lead from barrier 4, while Overpass is likely to push across to either sit outside that horse or cross over. Mazu and Schwarz shouldn't be too far away, while Lady Laguna and Rothfire can tuck into a midfield position. Sunshine In Paris, Jedibeel and Benedetta are among those that will be further back. 

Happy to be with Sunshine In Paris in the Doomben 10000, despite the tricky draw. The Anabel Neasham & Rob Archibald-trained galloper has had three starts this time in and has been a tad unlucky in a couple of those when not far away at Group 1 level. She has been producing some excellent figures in all of those races and at her last campaign she exploded fourth up when taking out the Champions Sprint (1200m) at Flemington, going 13.4 lengths faster than standard. Pace in the race looks solid for this and she gets James McDonald back on board. He is five from 11 for the stable, providing a 59% profit on turnover. 

Jedibeel is a proven performer on Soft tracks and went close at his most recent start when a narrow runner-up in the Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm. She was held up in the Galaxy (1100m) three starts ago before making late ground, then was ok without much luck when just a couple of lengths off them in the TJ Smith, finishing on the heels of Sunshine In Paris. The five-year-old has been supported since the barrier draw and should get the perfect trail from barrier 3.
