PointsBet Review

We review PointsBet – of one Australia’s most unique bookmakers to see what makes it such a popular option for sport and horse racing punters.

PointsBet Verdict

It can take a while to get used to the system PointsBet uses, but it’s well worth hanging around for.

Once punters get the hang of points betting, there’s plenty of money to be made. It adds another level of betting and that’s not a bad thing.

The website has a different look to most other bookmakers and it has a corporate feel to it. This is a positive in our opinion and we would happily recommend playing at PointsBet.

Pros

  • Good odds on offer
  • Potential winnings are greater
  • Sleek website design

Cons

  • No live streaming for sport and racing
  • Platform can be tough to navigate

Reasons to Bet at PointsBet

PointsBet won’t appeal to every punter, much like BetFair. That’s because it’s not easy to understand at face value and it does need some research.

That being said, there’s more than enough reason to bet with PointsBet. They offer a good chance for punters to win big money and that service isn’t offered with other bookmakers.

Punters can win big money from a small outlay and that’s attractive for all levels of bettors.

They have all the normal markets available and their odds are competitive, which is key for a bookmaking offering a niche service.

PointsBet Bonus Bets & Promo Codes

PointsBet has many bonus bet promotions. Not only do punters get bonus bets when signing up, but bonus bets are offered throughout the site.

Horse Racing Bets at PointsBet

PointsBet caters more towards sports betting, but they make up for it with good horse racing odds.

Better than average odds are suggested on most racing markets, which covers Australian, New Zealand and international horse racing. They cover thoroughbreds, harness and greyhound racing, which is key for any online bookmaker.

Tote and fixed odds betting is offered in the horse racing section and the odds are up nice and early. That’s a big positive for PointsBet, as punters will be attracted to bookmakers that are fast at getting odds up.

There are many positive aspects to placing a horse racing bet at PointsBet. Punters can get better odds depending on the winning margin of their selected runner. It’s just another way PointsBet changes the normal thinking of betting.

We’re not sure if that concept will take off, but it’s available for punters and shows PointsBet are a forward-thinking online bookmaker.

Unlike many Australian bookmakers, PointsBet doesn’t have the rights to livestream horse racing.

Overall, the PointsBet racing section has plenty of variety to keep punters entertained.

Sports Betting at PointsBet

PointsBet thrives with their sports betting platform, mostly because it’s different to what any other bookmaker is offering.

They have all the usual sports betting options on offer, such as head-to-head and first try scorer, but there’s a new concept with PointsBet has developed.

Punters can win or lose more depending on the winning margin of their bet. If you take a totals bet of over 200 points and the total results with 220 points, your $10 bet will return $200.

It can be tricky to work out at first and punters are liable to lose more with one given bet, but the potential to win more is there to see.

It's certainly a unique way of sports betting but for those punters that aren’t keen, all the normal sports bettng options are available.

A negative is that PointsBet doesn’t live stream any sport.

PointsBet Bet Types

As previously mentioned, PointsBet has all the usual online bookmaking bet types that other bookmakers have, but they have their own unique bet type.

No other bookmaker is offering their system and that’s what makes them stand out. Once punters get to learn about all the different ways of betting at PointsBet, it will catch on in Australia.

If you’re not wanting variety when betting, PointsBet still has all the usual markets on offer for both horse racing and sport.

PointsBet Mobile Betting App

PointsBet is one of the best technological bookmaking websites so it comes as no surprise to see they have a mobile betting app.

The PointsBet mobile app is available on Android and iPhone devices. It features all the fun features that makes PointsBet different and it’s a sleek design.

That’s one of the positives about the app – it's design and it’s relatively flawless.

PointsBet Payment Details

PointsBet doesn’t offer a big variety of depositing options, but credit and debits cards are welcome.

  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • POLi

PointsBet Customer Service

PointsBet has an excellent customer service rating. They have a live chat option, which is a big positive and they also have other forms of contact

Punters can email, phone or even fax their questions into the team.

Responses using all methods are quick and PointsBet gets a tick in this department.
