Horses to follow and blackbookers who caught the Blackbook.com.au team's eye at the Flemington meeting on May 22.
Race 3 - Mangani (eighth). This son of Tarzino was good through the line first-up over 1400m, clocking the fastest last 200m of the race. Next prep is when we really want to be following into a race like the VRC Derby where he is bred to end up. In what was a race where we saw a tight finish, this is the horse who I feel can be targeted towards more races over his preferable distance range of 2000m+.
Race 7 - French Moon (third). It was a decent effort over 10 furloings and this galloper will get even further after clocking the third fastest last 600m and 200m of the race. He is a grinder, but does have the talent to toy with our current 78–84 staying gallopers as a late three-year-old and into his four-year-old season.
Race 8 - Aramayo (fourth). This was a big run first-up over a trip well short of his best. He had trialled up well and held his ground on the line. He may be vulnerable second-up and put in a flat one, but over a mile and up to 2000m is going to be hit hitting range as we go further into the winter. In the hands of Chris Waller, third-up is when we want to be with this galloper.
