Horses to follow and blackbookers who caught the Blackbook.com.au team's eye at the Belmont meeting on July 10.
Race 2 - The Velvet Queen (third)
Well-bred first starter (full-sister to dual Group winner The Velvet King) and following two good trials, has had zero luck here, racing three-wide throughout and was still arguably the strongest on the line. The overall time stacked up very well for two-year-old class and she's put three lengths on fourth.
Race 4 - Zaratite (second)
Beaten as an odds-on favourite, but certainly lost no admirers given he was second-up at 1650m off nearly a two-year spell and has put nearly eight lengths on the next runner home. Was runner-up the start prior to a subsequent Group winner and now ready to tackle longer tips, he can string a few together.
Race 7 - Lonehand Larry (third)
At 35.13, he's recorded easily the fastest last 600m of this event and overall, it was one of fastest closing splits of the program. Returning off a decent freshen-up since a fourth-place finish in May, this gelding balanced up late as the pick of the closers behind an all the way winner. Looking for 1200m next start.
