Race 2 - Born To Try (second). Went down as a well backed favourite but won't lose any fans. Settled back and never hit her top until the last 100m when rattling off easily the fastest last 600m of the race. 1400m is too sharp for her now which was evident last prep when saluting at a mile before a runner-up over 2000m. A rating of only 66 allows her to be easily placed short term.
Race 4 - Phanta (third). Stuck on well fresh in a leader dominated event and interestingly here, has come back to the six furlongs after resuming at 1400m, which has ultimately been the difference. A lightly raced gelding that beat the handy Dom To Shoot in his September debut last year, so there's obviously ability there. Back to 1400m third-up looks the winning recipe.
Race 6 - Moschard (third). Raced out of his grade a few times last spring, but does look ready to win if the first two runs this campaign are any indication. Ran into an in-form Miss Conteki fresh and staying at 1200m here, lacked the turn-of-foot to go initially with the eventual winner before finding the line strong. Seven furlongs and a better barrier next start would help.
